Mentoring

One of my passions is helping other authors find their voice. Writing can be a solitary pursuit and having someone to guide you through the challenging moments, celebrate your breakthroughs and help shape your narrative can make all the difference. I’m committing to supporting a few writers in a mentoring relationship each year. I offer structured feedback and teach techniques to help you craft compelling narratives that resonate with readers while staying true to your authentic voice.

Story

Discover the heart of your story

Once we find the true heart of your story, we can work together to bring it to the surface. This will enable you to work through creative blocks and uncertainties as you write. We’ll explore characterisation, setting and storytelling mechanics.

Voice

Stay true to your authentic voice

What does it mean to ‘find your voice’? Together, we’ll explore tone, rhythm, prose and crafting a compelling narrative in a way only you can. This is all about developing your storytelling techniques.

Craft

Create a process that works for you

We’ll discuss how effectively structuring your work can build your confidence as a writer. We’ll consider what’s next by creating a detailed plan so you feel in control of the journey ahead and talk about how you can navigate the sometimes challenging emotional terrain of personal writing.

FAQs

Do I need to be an experienced writer?

Not at all! I work with writers at all stages, from complete beginners to published authors trying something new. What matters most is your commitment to developing your work.

What kinds of writing do you work with?

I specialise in nature writing, memoir and fiction particularly stories exploring themes of grief, healing and our relationship with nature. I’m a wide reader so happy to coach you through any genre, all you need is enthusiasm for your story.

How do I get started?

Send me an email telling me about your project, what you hope to achieve, and why you'd like to work with me specifically. I'll let you know if I have availability and we can discuss the best way to begin collaborating. I’m only taking on a handful of mentees in 2025, so please get in touch soon if you’d like to work together.

How do sessions work?

We'll meet virtually. I also offer in-person sessions, if you’re able to meet in London. It can be great to have that in person connection when discussing your creative work.

What’s your teaching style?

I've spoken and led workshops for Cambridge University, Granta, Faber and, soon, Arvon. My literary background, combined with my eight years professional experience as a Program Manager at Apple, gives me a unique approach to teaching. I combine the creative and technical: the art of storytelling with proven methods to achieve bespoke learning outcomes. I apply this philosophy to my mentoring, helping writers not only develop their craft but also establish sustainable practices that support their creative journey beyond our sessions.

Do you offer manuscript review?

Yes, I charge per 10,000 words at my hourly rate. If you’d like me to read a draft of your manuscript, just let me know and we can discuss the scope of review needed during our initial consultation.
